NEW habits for 2014

I thought I would start with 6 habits because the rule of thumb is 6-8 weeks for a new habit right? So if I do well, I can do more.   I will try to update every six weeks or so and let you know how I do. :-)  Anyone else have any NEW habits they are trying to do this year?

-Get clothing set out the night BEFORE.

-Put on make up and get dressed for breakfast.

-Wash down bathroom sink and commode daily.

-Plan goals for next day, the evening before.

-Tuck in and pray with EACH children at night.

-Give EACH child a HUG.

My DIY List for 2014

I had one last year. And I did several things on it. A few I just decided to not try at ALL. A few got forgotten about.  So I am bringing them back this year. I also have a few more.  Hopefully I can do better this year. Especially since I actually WANT to do these. Not sure why I just don't DO them?

Sour Cream - I get cream for free so why not make my our SOUR cream? I think my daughter might like me.

Carpet Cleaner - I need to try something. .So far nothing has really worked.

Windex - I think it is almost an all purpose cleaner at my house.

Homemade Bubble Bath - my kids would LOVE me if I could pull it off!

Homemade Bubbles - I think we could buy stock in bubbles with all the bubbles spilled here.

Mango Chutney - Aarti on Food Network raves about it. I want to try it. :-)

Decoupage - I know I would LOVE to make some projects that need this.

Cooking Spray - I can't tell you how many times I wish I had this!

Weed Killer - We need to try this on the front "porch"

Wood Cleaner - Seems like we are always OUT of this stuff when we need it.

Shower Cleaner - I need this by the truck loads here with my hard water. I want to try this one as well and see which is better.

Kefir Soda - I have so much milk kefir I want to convert it to water kefir and make soda!

My list and how I did from LAST year
Liquid Soap - I found a good deal on soap for FREE. No one is a big fan, because we really like liquid soap. I might try this one too. - This was a total bust. The soap was just liquid and not nice at all. Waste of time and energy

Windex - I think it is almost an all purpose cleaner at my house.

Homemade Bubble Bath - my kids would LOVE me if I could pull it off!

Homemade Bubbles - I think we could buy stock in bubbles with all the bubbles spilled here.

Pita Bread - I LOVE it, but it is so expensive - Made it several times and LOVED it.

Naan - We LOVE Indian food. I have never found any in the store though. - Made it several times and LOVED it.

Mango Chutney - Aarti on Food Network raves about it. I want to try it. :-)

Decoupage - I know I would LOVE to make some projects that need this.

Laundry Color Catcher - I know my husband was asking for this.

Colored Sprinkles - I am just too cheap to buy them, so this recipe is perfect for me. I actually did this for our cookies. FUN.

Book Review: When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit was such a unique book. Such a different perspective then I was expecting to read. I thought the title was cute. To a child, Hitler DID steal her pink rabbit. Funny how simple children make things. A good read.  I was so sad when it ended.  I found it rather frustrating annoying that they had to keep moving. I know I wouldn't want to do that.

Book Review: The HOW and WOW of Habits

The How and WOW of Habits was a great read. It has been a while since I read a book about habits and schedules. I need to do it more often. It keeps me motivated and encouraged to keep going. The one thing I took away from this book that I hope I can use is to pick your thing to do, that will help you do other things. Make that habit be a spring board for OTHER things you want to get done.   Something I never thought about. A great read. I read it cover to cover in one sitting, which a rarity in a home with 7 children. LOL!
