THM Crock Pot Session 2
I am going to attempt to make a crock pot menu from the THM book. No need to re-do recipes. And for those of you that are doing the THM eating plan anyway we already have the book right?
Pizza Casserole - THM S p.327 - I am packaging all the ingredients in baggies and then putting the meal together when I put it in the crock.
Cabbage Rolls - THM S p. 312 - I make the rolls and bag them up. I add the other items in another bag to be poured over when I go to make them.
Mexican Noodles - THM S p.348 - I bag things up separate and put it together when I go to cook it. I add the cabbage in the last hour on top.
Baked Chicken Thighs - THM S p.322 - I bag up the spices and toss it in the the chicken when you cook the thighs. I do NOT add liquid when I cook up the thighs. Just dump in the chicken and add the spices.
Spicy Chicken Wings - THM S p.323 - I make up the wing sauce and add that to the chicken when I cook it.
Creamy Cheesy Chicken - THM S p. 314
Light Coconut Curry - THM E p 313
Crock Pot Chicken Italian Chicken - THM E p. 314
Spinach Lovers Italiano - THM E p. 314
Crock Pot Chicken Mexican Style - THM E p.314
Here is a shopping and prep list for the BIG cooking day. :-)

Are the recipes in the book crackpot ready, or are you giving us a look at the recipes you plan to make crackpot ready?
ReplyDeleteMost of them ARE crock pot ready. I can write a more detailed list for bag/container/storage and prep if you want. I didn't really think about it.
DeleteI would love to see more details of how you prepped this! Esp pizza casserole, we *love* this meal, but having a hard time pictureing it in the crockpot. Do you cook the beef first? (probably have to I guess?). And all that cheese!! How does it clean up? I use liners a lot to save on clean up but...pictureing a bunch of melty cheese against the plastic doesn't seem so great either...
DeleteYes I cook the beef first. I put the layers in the crock how they suggest in the book when I go to cook the meal. I don't use liners with my crock. I have wanted to try them, but I haven't yet. I do use those little scrub pads to clean any ickies up.
DeleteOk one more - what do you do with the 'creamy cheesy chicken alfredo'? Is that where the jars of salsa go? And do you just serve it as-is, or over some noodles (zucchini or dreamfields or such?)?
DeleteYes I put the salsa in there. :-) And I serve it over shredded cabbage. I have not tried the zucchini noodles yet. I bet they are delicious. :-)
DeleteI have a spiralizer that I use for making noodles from squash or zucchini. My kids could not tell the difference between the veggie noodles and regular noodles.
DeleteThis may be a silly question! Your shopping list calls for 54 chicken breasts- 28 lbs of chicken.... Are these boneless skinless breasts?bone in? Thanks! :)
DeleteI use boneless.
DeletePlease could you post these recipes? I LOVED your first session, this would be an incredible addition!
ReplyDeleteThe recipes are in the book and copyrighted so I can't publish them sorry. If you want the recipes you will need to get the book. :-)
DeleteIs this doubled for 20 meals like your first session?
ReplyDeleteYes the store list is doubled just like session 1.
DeleteHow much is the book and where can it be purchased?
ReplyDeleteCheck out this website. :-) http://www.trimhealthymama.com/
Deleteabout $20 - i downloaded the pdf and now have it in my cloud so i can get access to the book at any time....any where
DeleteWould be much easier (and I would have purchased it already) if the Kindle version were available via Amazon! Bummer
DeleteHow do you know how long to cook these in the crock and at what temps? I have the book but these recipes are for the oven and don't give any instructions for the crock pot.
ReplyDeleteI cook mine 4-6 hours on Medium.
ReplyDeleteJust to make sure, the grocery list is for each recipe times 2 correct?
ReplyDeleteYes. :-)
DeleteDid you end up writing the more detailed list for bag/container/storage and prep? I'm a newbie to cooking and THM and freezing meals, but follow detailed directions well….I would GREATLY appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI wrote a little more detail above. Are you looking for more details for these particular recipes or just the whole thing in general? I honestly had forgotten about it. Maybe I need to do that soon huh?
DeleteI just came across this site and LOVE it!! I can't wait to try out all the recipes...just one question...what do the letters after THM mean? In the recipes above there is an "S" by some and "E" by some...what do those stand for? Thanks for all your time and effort in putting all these lists togeher! It is greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteIt is the THM means Trim Healthy Mama. S and E are the THM meals styles.
DeleteSooo... You have to buy the book to have access to the recipes in session 2?
ReplyDeleteYes. :-) Many libraries have it.
DeleteJust to clarify. Are you taking an afternoon, prepping all of these meals, and freezing them the way you did for list 1? Everything split into two bags? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am prepping one day and then assembling on another day. I make each recipe 2 times and split them into 2 bags. :-)

ReplyDeleteTo everyone easy cleanup just pour vinegar and baking soda in your crockpot or any pot after any messy mea
ReplyDeleteNone of the recipe links work for me :(
ReplyDeleteAs stated above I can't publish the recipes because they are from the book.
DeleteYou really do a lot of work for all of these recipes and lists and I just wanted to say thank you for taking time to make our lives a little easier:)
ReplyDeleteWhen I have food stuck to the crockpot, I just fill it up with hot water, a little squirt of dish soap, and set it on low for a few hours...it will then come off real easily, :-)
ReplyDeleteThere is a dish soap called Dawn Platinum. Advertises in 3 minutes does the work of an overnight soak for tough messy pans. It really does work great!
ReplyDeleteI would like to second that, from Anonymous #1, that I cannot believe you did all of this work to SHARE IT WITH US so that we are spared all the many hours it took you to come up with all this.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! My new year's plan is to end the year being one of the "Before and After" testimonies!! Thank you so much!!!
Bought everything for session 2 tonight - ready to get started tomorrow! Wish me luck! lol Thank you for this!
ReplyDeleteHow much do you spend on average for 1 cooking session?
ReplyDeleteI spend about $150-$200. Depends on how good of a shopper I can be. ;-)
DeleteHow many days does a session equate?
ReplyDelete20 meals. I double EACH recipe 2 times.
DeleteSo I inadvertently purchased shopping list two and didn't realize the recipes weren't available. So I bought the cook book to acquire the recipes, didn't mind at first because I liked the dish ideas and I am very disappointed to discover the recipes aren't crock pot ready. So I guessed on cooking times and ad libbed a lot. I hope many of the recipes come out!
ReplyDeleteI do wish the book has a little more information, but most things cook from 6-8 hours on low.
DeleteWhat recipe are the chicken legs for? I'm in the middle of bagging and can't figure it out!
ReplyDeleteI assume I used it for the spicy wings The recipes says you can use drumsticks so I assume that is what I did.
DeleteWhich book is this from? I have the THM cookbook, but none of the pages are matching up to what you posted.
ReplyDeleteThese are from the OLDER THM book, not the newer one. Sorry for the confusion.
Deletewould you recommend using frozen vegetables in place of some of the fresh since we are freezing anyways? Just thought I could save myself some time on the cauli and broccoli. I'm kinda lazy when it comes to prep.
ReplyDeleteYes
DeleteI have the thin healthy mama cookbook and the recipes aren't lining up with the pages you have mentioned is your book a newer or older version maybe?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is in the original book, the one pictured above. Sorry for the confusion.
